LinkedIn, widely known as a platform for professional networking and job hunting, holds a wealth of untapped potential for sales and marketing professionals. Beyond the familiar features lies a treasure trove of tools that can supercharge your efforts.
Here’s what they are, where to find them, and how you can start taking advantage of them immediately to boost your sales and marketing efforts.
Profile QR codes
In the digital age, traditional business cards are becoming relics of the past. LinkedIn offers a modern solution for networking events and meetings – even if LinkedIn’s UX designers decided that they didn’t want anybody to know it was there.
Within the mobile app only (why?!), you can generate a QR code that seamlessly links to your personal LinkedIn profile. This QR code can be printed on your event lanyard or shared digitally, simplifying the process of connecting with new contacts on LinkedIn.
To find it, open the LinkedIn app, click on the search bar and you’ll see a tiny icon at the far right of the bar that looks like a window. Simply click it to view it. This code can be shared or saved locally to your device so you can share it around easily.
‘Invite to follow’ credits on company pages
A robust LinkedIn company page is vital for enhancing brand visibility. Growing your page however, can seem overly difficult due to discoverability hurdles.
However, each LinkedIn user has the ability to expand their network by sending out connection requests, the limit in which resets weekly. As you grow your own personal network, you can invite your connections to follow your company page using invite credits. Depending on the size of your page and how much of the page you have setup, you get up to 250 of these that reset each month. Yes, month.
That gives you the potential to have over 2,500 new followers a year without needing to break a sweat. A well maintained company page not only enhances your brand’s credibility, but also expands its reach. Get inviting.
Post slide-show formatted social media posts
Sometimes, you need to share more comprehensive information in a structured format. LinkedIn allows you to post slides – but working out how to do this is tricky as the button enables this functionality has been named badly and has been hidden under a sub-menu (surely it’d be easier to just allow you to attach more images like Instagram does?).
Simply click the ‘more’ button when drafting a new post and then choose ‘add document’. Here, you can upload a PDF file of your slides – allowing you to take advantage of a more structured layout, making your posts more informative and more engaging for your audience.
Schedule posts without third-party tools
Consistency in posting is essential on LinkedIn. What’s great about LinkedIn for content creators is that you don’t need third-party scheduling tools to use it long-term.
After creating your post, look for the ‘Schedule for Later’ button located next to the ‘Post’ button at the bottom right of the new-post draft window. This feature empowers you to efficiently schedule your posts, saving time and ensuring that your content reaches your target audience at optimal times.
Showcase your services on your personal profile
If your organisation offers specific services, you can increase your visibility to potential clients by showcasing these services on your personal LinkedIn profile. Simply add the services you provide to your personal profile. When users search for these services on LinkedIn, your profile stands a better chance of appearing in their search results.
By encouraging your colleagues and employees to follow suit, you will further enhance your organisation’s chances of being discovered by prospective buyers. It’s a win-win.
